What have you learned over this process?
Well what this and the last project gave me really was a true look at myself and what i wanted to look at in my work, i have done alot of art but i have never just looked at myself and said what do i like what do i want to get into this piece and this module finally taught me to start doing it.
Another very vital thing i have progresse along with is my forging techinque, i have had prior experince but only as an apprentice so when it comes to my own forging i would consider myself a novice but over the last few months i can see it slowly moving along. I am getting alot faster and alot cleaner with my forging, comparing the piece i created in this project to the first project shows a massive jump in skill, i have quite some way to come admitly but its nice to see that i am on the right path/
What would you like to work on for next time?
Well one of the main things i was told through alot of tutorails was about my sampling and really portraying my drawings into the steel as accuractly as possible. I have done it in a few examples but not as much as i would like to, i think with progression of skill this will become a lot easier.
Keeping to my time scale would be a massive thing for me to work on, i set out a detailed time plan at the start and as i look back now i did everything completley different. I got my piece done but i was scraping it just abit something i really want to get out of the habit of doing. With the few projects i have got over the summer i will be really sticking to a time scale.
How well do you think you did in this project?
I am personally very happy with the project and the final piece, it isnt the greatest forging i will admit that but it is as close to my drawings as i could do myself. There are a few samples as well as a large portion of my sketch book which i am really happy with. If i had to mark myself i would put my work around a 2.2 hopefully.
What are you most of proud of? And what do you think was your biggest disappointment during the project?
Well i am most proud of my sketchbooks i would say, the first one maybe not so much but the second two i put alot of work into those and i really starter to develop a style that i was comfortable with. The final piece itself was quite a high point for me, seeing all my work finally in the flesh.
The biggest disappointment would be the intail part of the assessment, i let myself down and my peers with my attuide and preformance during that part of the project. I was in a bad spot and it didnt make it easy to get a creative idea out so i made shit and tried to pass it off that i was proud of it. I wont be putting many of first samples onto my desk as to say i was not proud of them is an understatement.
